Rising Sign Farm’s CSA is a community-focused, farmer-driven model where everyone shares in the risk and the bounty of the farm.
CSA members pay for a membership in the spring, and in return receive fresh produce throughout the entire growing season. This supports the farm by providing up-front income for seeds, compost, equipment, and other supplies needed to grow food.
As a Rising Sign Farm CSA member, you will receive 20 weekly boxes of veggies delivered fresh from our field to your neighborhood, from June through October. In addition, we’ll send you a weekly newsletter about happenings on the farm, recipes, and other exciting events or news. We hope that you’ll enjoy some foods that you are familiar with, and learn to use some new and different seasonal produce.
Being a CSA member means supporting a queer owned business, investing in your local economy, reducing your climate impact, and embracing the seasonal bounty of the land with live on.
Membership Details
We know deciding to buy all of your produce months in advance is a big deal! Our goal is to make CSA shares as accessible as possible, and to put solidarity economics into practice in order to make that happen. This requires all members to deeply consider their class background and ability to pay - check out this awesome resource from Zenger Farms to help determine what makes sense for you. Sliding Scale Payment
Every box will contain the same items. You decide what seasonal price works best for the full season. You also have the option of paying up front, or splitting your payment into installments. If you would like to pay with EBT, or need to figure out a different payment arrangement, please email risingsignfarm@gmail.com and we will make it work.
Full Share: Every box will be filled with 7 to 10 items (approximately a $33 weekly value). Pricing options: - $495, $660, or $825.
Half Share: Every box will be filled with 4 to 6 items (approximately a $21 weekly value). Pricing options - $315, $420, or $525.
May Share: Every box will be filled with 5 items (approximately a $17.50 weekly value). Pricing - $70 for 4 weeks.
What’s in a Box
Here’s a peak at what your veggie box may include in each season:
Early summer: rainbow chard, garlic scapes, lollipop radishes, pak choi, green butter lettuce, scallions, napa cabbage, sugar snap peas, mint, thyme, green beans, artichokes
Summer: heirloom tomatoes, snacking peppers, dino kale, broccoli, golden beets, eggplant, basil, carrots, striped green zucchini, purple mizuna, garlic
Fall: honey boat delicata, sage, carrots, kohlrabi, purple daikon radishes, collard greens, fennel, escarole, beets
Pickup Dates and Locations
For the 2023 season CSA pick up will happen every Monday, from June 5th through October 23rd. We take one week off, September 4th.
Pick up your CSA share in your neighborhood! We have pick up locations in Carnation, Wallingford, Madrona, North Beacon Hill, and West Seattle (Highland Park). Please note that as a small farm with limited CSA memberships we have a minimum of 5 members per pick up location.
If you are out of town or need to skip a week, we will have one make up week at the end of the season. Please email risingsignfarm@gmail.com at least a week in advance of your skipped week. You can also always have a friend or neighbor pick up your weekly box in your place.
